sunday, august 7.
this photo of me is from uncle tony and liz groeschen's "expat apartment project."

this weekend, i hiked up asachan.

okay, i'll try to tell you a bit about our first day in kuala lumpur, malaysia in this post, now that i finally have photographs to accompany my lame writing.
we left seoul around 11:00 p.m. on a red-eye flight to kuala lumpur, malaysia.

[i think i like to brag about this more than i should - but this is the first plane ticket i've ever purchased ;]]

casey, rosie, jen, ashley, jeff, and myself, were all on the same flight over.

only casey, jeff, and myself stayed in kuala lumpur. our other fellow travelers went to bali and thailand [i think - i'm pretty bad at listening].
anyway, we arrived around 5:00 a.m., tired-eyed and excited.

we stayed at the explorer's guesthouse in KL.

this is a photo of one of the workers, sun:

sun was great ^_^
we traveled to the botanical gardens the first day we arrived.

we also went to the deer park (lawl), which was nearby the botanical gardens.

after showering the sweat off from our daytime adventure, we grabbed some delicious street food in chinatown near our hostel.

[NOM NOM NOM!]
here's a shot of chinatown at night:

once it got dark, we went to a temple (hindu, we think...), where we had to take our shoes off and play the role of fascinated tourists.

being a germaphobe, the whole no shoes thing is NOT MY STYLE, to say the least.

we ended our night with a 90 minute massages for RMB 100 [only about $33!]
